The following is our original post:
Fellow Southern Coloradans! Join The WOMEN’S MARCH FOR SOUTHERN COLORADO on JANUARY 20–a non-partisan march to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change.
NOTE: This event is not sponsored by the Pueblo County Democratic Party (though Dems are helping out), but is a grass-roots march organized by women and men from numerous organizations across Southern Colorado. People from all political parties as well as non-affiliated individuals are urged to participate.
Our aim is to have 500 to 1,000 people converge on the old Pueblo County Courthouse at noon on Saturday, January 20. There, you’ll enjoy the music, hear inspirational speakers such as State Representative Daneya Esgar and others preceding the following the march, and have the opportunity to show your solidarity with others who want to end oppression and build a society guided by self-determination, dignity, and respect.
The march will not be arduous, considering the presence of children and elder persons: after a short rally with motivating speakers, we’ll march around the Courthouse and walk a couple blocks south before returning to the Courthouse for a concluding rally with additional speakers and more music and fun. But it’s serious fun!
